Is used cooking oil (UCO) at the heart of the energy transition?
At Ibero Waste, we are convinced that it is a highly valuable raw material within the circular economy and one that must be protected. Its decisive role in the production of biofuels such as biodiesel and SAF — Sustainable Aviation Fuel — makes it a profitable resource that risks being negligently replaced by palm oil or adulterated through blending with virgin oils.
The real traceability of used cooking oil guarantees its collection, transport and, ultimately, its transformation into biofuel. At Ibero Waste, we are part of a network of suppliers certified in sustainability. By holding the prestigious ISCC EU certification scheme — International Sustainability and Carbon Certification — we ensure the protection of land with high biodiversity value and high carbon stock, environmentally responsible use of soil, water and air, compliance with the legal and sustainability requirements established by the EU Renewable Energy Directive, the management of sustainable practices and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

We comply with strict sustainability and traceability criteria. At our plants, we document every litre of oil; its origin matters to us just as much as its final destination, ensuring that it does not end up in landfill. We require our suppliers to hold valid sustainability certification, whether ISCC EU or REDcert. We work to reduce the carbon footprint by verifying that biofuel produced from UCO reduces greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and we certify that the raw material is genuinely a waste product and not an intentionally cultivated by-product.
At Ibero Waste, as a company certified under ISCC standards, we guarantee real and verifiable transparency across all processes. We are a driving force for sustainable transport and the circular economy.
